A digital satellite receiver with an advanced user friendly interface

Abstract

We have successfully developed a new PerfecTV! IRD(1ntegrated Receiver Decoder) with several features utilizing advanced merits of digital satellite broadcasting. This paper describes these features including a structure of the hardware and software, an algorithm of a data filtering method, and special functions that viewers can operate easily.(3) additional data service as well as video and audio (4) data broadcasting like PC software download (5) interactive service like NVOD(near video on demand)We focused on the Japanese market, and by fully utilizing a 32bit RISC processor, we developed the PerfecTV!
