A determination of the synthetic hyetograph parameters for flow capacity assessment concerning stormwater systems

Abstract: The paper presents the results of an analysis of the influence of synthetic rainfall duration and location of rainfall intensity peak on the rate of the flood volume in surcharged storm sewers. The analyzed rainfalls had durations from 15 minutes to 180 minutes. It was assumed, that the rainfall peak location would change between the beginning and the end of the rainfall with increments of 10% of the rainfall duration. Outflow simulations were performed with the use of SWMM5.1.012 for three models of real urba… Show more

“…Earlier studies showed that they could have a significant impact on the implementation process of sustainable drainage systems and the selection of specific solutions [25]. It should be also noted that in Polish conditions the drainage of stormwater through underground canal systems and its quick discharge to the receiver is the dominant method of stormwater management [26]. Therefore, one should not expect a sudden change in the approach to stormwater management within urban catchments, which will enable the replacement of conventional drainage systems with LID facilities.…”
