A determination of the structure of liquid Ag2Te using neutron diffraction and isotopic substitution and its comparison to Ag2Se

Abstract: The partial structure factors and pair distribution functions for liquid Ag2Te have been measured using the method of neutron diffraction and isotopic substitution. The partial structure factors are consistent with a melt in which the predominant interactions are ionic in nature and in which the small Ag+ ions are highly disordered and move rapidly through a more ordered Te2- sub-structure. A detailed comparison has been made between the structure of this liquid and that of liquid Ag2Se. It is observed that th… Show more

“…All data were corrected for multiple scattering and absorption, and normalized versus a vanadium rod using standard procedures. 31,32 Identical experimental conditions were applied for both the deuterium-labeled and natural abundance pyridine samples. All measurements were performed on the D4C diffractometer at ILL (Grenoble, France).…”

“…The transformation ␣Ag2Te ⇔ ␤Ag2Te has been also described by DTA technique by Mamedov and Gadzhiev [9]. Crystal structure of Ag2Te was examined by Barnest et al [10] using neutron diffraction. Ag5Te3 intermetallic compound has been described by Kracek et al [4] by XRD and DTA experiments.…”
