A Design Methodology for Medical Processes

Abstract: Despite being only an example, our case study showed the ability of process modeling to answer the actual needs in healthcare practices. Independently from the medical domain in which the modeling effort is done, the proposed methodology is useful to create high-quality models, and to detect and take into account relevant and tricky situations that can occur during process execution.

“…3 ). Such integration is acknowledged as a complex process [ 21 ]; yet solutions often ignore the opportunities for incorporating the informal carer(s) into formal processes [ 22 ]. In the DEDICATE model, today’s organisational care silos are overcome by enabling coordinated cross-sector delivery of support to people with dementia.…”

“…Decision: Decision-making builds upon therapeutic knowledge and requires health laborers to consider clinical evidence and accessible patient data (Lenz and Reichert, 2005). Such data is put away not as it were in IT systems but moreover in paper archives and therapeutic devices, hence complicating the understanding and robotization of data trade and change tasks (Ferrante et al ., 2016; Laurenza et al ., 2018). Multidisciplinary: For giving the finest conceivable treatment to a patient, different therapeutic disciplines and organizational units have to be coordinated and facilitated (Lenz and Reichert, 2005; Müller and Rogge-Solti, 2011).…”

“…It is increasingly important to incorporate process modeling into healthcare management routines since it can improve patient care and build a shared understanding among stakeholders. (Ferrante et al, 2016;Neumann et al, 2019) Due to its high complexity and need for multidisciplinary team cooperation, childbirth is of particular importance among clinical processes. To improve the childbirth experience, healthcare providers should prioritize it.…”

“…Prenova procesov je potekala v skladu z metodologijo modeliranja procesov v zdravstvu do druge faze (Ferrante et al, 2016). Tretja faza, ki je logično modeliranje in vključuje implementacijo, ni bila izvedena.…”
