A design method for the integration of heat and control in a process of toluene hydrodealkylation

Abstract: The integration of heat and process control, strategies for designing a process that consumes minimum energy and improves controllability has been received an increasing interest by process engineers. The techniques of heat integration to improve efficiency of energy consumption normally consume necessary degree of freedom and raise difficulties in control design. This study aims to develop a method that compromise between heat recovery of a heat exchanger network and control performance of a process by balanc… Show more

“…The results show that the system was able to tolerate all the disturbances used in the study. The settling time, which is defined as the time to reach the set point with an error of less than 5% [4], varies in each case. The settling time for the +10% ethylbenzene feed flowrate case in 30 minutes and 60 minutes is 340 minutes and 400 minutes respectively.…”

“…The action of extracting toluene to keep the environment safe might be a good act, however the idea of preventing toluene contaminating the water itself or decreasing the amount of toluene that directly goes to the water after being used once should be done. The report analysis shows that the HDA process design on the gas recycle stream has better performance in both economic and environmental aspects compared to the other design process [4]. In the previous research, it has also implemented toluene recycling process with the purpose is gaining high purities of benzene.…”
