“…In addition, group supervision of group work and supervision of co-leader pairs call for the supervisor to facilitate exploration of co-leader and supervision group relationships. Several authors discuss the importance of supervisors acting as process and relationship facilitators in these contexts (Christensen & Kline, 2000Newman & Lovell, 1993). Since the group work supervisor may guide exploration of supervisees' internal experiences and the collective emotional and relational experiences of co-leader pairs and supervision groups, this role is conceptualized as the ''counselor=facilitator role'' in the SGW model rather than ''counselor role.''…”

“…Although most literature regarding supervision focuses on individual counseling, some authors have presented models specifically oriented toward supervision of group work (Altfeld & Bernard, 1997;DeLuciaWaack, 2002DeLuciaWaack, , 1999Haag Granello & Underfer-Babalis, 2004;Newman & Lovell, 1993). Altfeld & Bernard (1997) and Newman & Lovell (1993) both describe processes for group supervision of group work, but they do not include content related to group work skills, conceptualization, and personalization.…”

“…Some authors, though, have presented models specifically oriented towards supervision of group work. Altfeld and Bernard presented an experiential model of group supervision that focused on concepts of object relations, group-as-a-whole, and gestalt theory, while Newman and Lovell (1993) presented a model of group supervision focused on multiple levels of interactions and parallel process. The models presented by DeLucia-Waack (2002) and Granello and Underfer-Babelis (2004) focused on the needs of group work supervisees.…”
