A derivation of the meridional velocity profile

Abstract

SUMMARYThe meridional velocity profile in the lower troposphere is derived from the zonal velocity profile by the introduction of the concept of an eddy viscosity varying with latitude. T h e amplitude of the eddy viscosity is then deduced and compared with previous results.
