A Deep Learning-Based Pipeline for Teaching Control Theory: Transforming Feedback Control Systems on Whiteboard Into MATLAB

Abstract: The difficulty in teaching control theory is that the lecturer must not only provide all the theoretical concepts but also visualize the control system in time and frequency domains. In control system courses, the visualizations are usually provided with roughly sketches on whiteboards and thus might be difficult to understand. In this paper, a Deep Learning (DL) based pipeline is proposed that is capable to recognize Handwritten Feedback Control Architectures (HFCAs) on the whiteboard and to transform them in… Show more

“…Erdem and BEKE proposed the concept of shallow learning and deep learning for the first time. ey preliminarily analyzed learners' reading process, trained students' deep reading process in an experimental way, and used deep learning to cultivate students' personal hobbies and interests [4]. Prabowo et al proposed on the research of deep learning that deep learning is an important process of establishing knowledge system, which is conducive to cultivating people's independent thinking ability and helping students better understand life and reading problems [5].…”

“…Teachers design and develop preview resources and release preview tasks to inspire students' in-depth learning [19]. Students individually preview, remember, and grasp the content, complete exam questions, apply what they have learned, discuss, and communicate to evaluate difficulties, as indicated in Figure 5, in order to gain knowledge and master skills and improve in-depth learning [20]. e discussion and communication link might be a conversation on a specific subject defined by the instructor, or students can talk freely about the difficulties they faced in advance, depending on the teaching material, in order to encourage students' in-depth learning.…”

“…It can be seen from the sigmoid function diagram that the input is outside the [-5,5] interval, and the change in the function value is small, brings the gradient closer to zero This causes the gradient disappearance phenomenon in the step value calculation method. The five dimensions of evaluation are percentile, so the input X data is mapped to the range of [0,1] by formula (3). Use the "read delimited spreadsheet control" in labview to read the training sample set from the Excel table [12].…”

“…Improve physical education, it is the most sought goal of colleges and universities to make physical education classes play their due role better. Therefore, evaluate PE lessons, look for factors that affect the quality of PE lessons, improve PE lessons, and improve the level of PE lessons [3]. In response to this, we will use the academic ability difference evaluation method to dig up related information that affects the quality of physical education classes, and provide scientific and guiding advice for future physical education class reforms.…”
