A Deep Dive into Indonesia's CO2 Emissions: The Role of Energy Consumption, Economic Growth and Natural Disasters

Ghalieb Mutig Idroes,
Irsan Hardi,
Teuku Rizky Noviandy
et al.

Abstract: This study examines the influence of non-renewable energy consumption, renewable energy consumption, economic growth, and natural disasters on Indonesia's carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions spanning from 1980 to 2021. The Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model is employed, with supplementary robustness checks utilizing Fully Modified Ordinary Least Squares (FMOLS), Dynamic Ordinary Least Squares (DOLS), and Canonical Cointegration Regression (CCR). The findings reveal that economic growth, along with non-rene… Show more

“…Facing resource scarcity and environmental harm from reduced fossil energy use, a shift to sustainable energy is crucial. It not only safeguards global energy security but also aligns with sustainability goals [1][2][3]. In Indonesia's evolving office landscape, a transformative wave integrates advanced lighting technologies, illuminating workspaces and ushering in energy efficiency.…”

“…However, the rapid demand increase needs to be balanced with sufficient energy supply, resulting in energy crises that have frequently occurred over the last few decades [3]. Therefore, public awareness regarding the importance of saving energy, energy conditions, and renewable energy sources is very important to minimize the occurrence of an energy crisis [4][5][6].…”
