A dataset of digital holograms of normal and thalassemic cells

Vahid Abbasian,
Arash Darafsheh

Abstract: Digital holographic microscopy (DHM) is an intriguing medical diagnostic tool due to its label-free and quantitative nature, providing high-contrast images of phase samples. By capturing both intensity and phase information, DHM enables the numerical reconstruction of quantitative phase images. However, the lateral resolution is limited by the diffraction limit, which prompted the recent suggestion of microsphere-assisted DHM to enhance the DHM resolution straightforwardly. The use of such a technique as a med… Show more

“…The PNJ concept was later generalized to micro-objects with other morphologies 5 , such as truncated spheres 6 , spheroids 7 , cuboids 8 , 9 , axicones 10 , gratings 11 , 12 , and non-symmetrical objects 13 , as well as other illuminating beams such as Gaussian 14 and Bessel 15 beams. PNJs have found potential applications in microscopy 16 19 , spectroscopy 20 , profilometry 21 – 27 , photolithography 28 , 29 , optical trapping 30 , optical waveguides 31 34 , and biophotonics 35 37 . Initially, PNJs were mainly investigated at the visible spectrum, but then they were extended to terahertz (THz) regime (named “terajets”, TJs) 38 43 due to broad range of potential applications of the THz technology in medical and material sciences, as well as in communication, homeland security, and pharmaceutical industry 44 47 .…”
