A database of water transitions from experiment and theory (IUPAC Technical Report)

Abstract: Abstract:The report and results of an IUPAC Task Group (TG) formed in 2004 on "A Database of Water Transitions from Experiment and Theory" (Project No. 2004-035-1-100) O, are determined from measured transition frequencies. The transition frequencies and energy levels are validated using first-principles nuclear motion computations and the MARVEL (measured active rotational-vibrational energy levels) approach. The extensive data including lines and levels are required for analysis and synthesis of spectra, t… Show more

“…Note that MARVEL has been used successfully to determine experimental-quality energy levels for nine water isotopologues [164][165][166][167][168], three H 3 þ isotopologues [169,170], and parent ketene [171] prior to being used here to obtain energy levels for 14 NH 3 via a weighted linear least-squares fit.…”

“…For example, the detection of terrestrial mass planets around M dwarfs, and radial velocity surveys with high-resolution spectrographs in the near-infrared (NIR) show a growing interest and require wavelength reference standards in the whole 1.0-case with the measurement of atmospheric CO 2 at 1.6 mm where frequency errors of online lasers need to be lower than 70.3 MHz to ensure a 0.25% precision [2]. Moreover as noticed in a recent IUPAC technical report on water transitions [3]: lack of calibration standards is identified as hindering the accurate determination of water energy levels.…”
