A medida que la población envejece, los países han empezado a comprender la importancia del emprendimiento de la tercera edad como un mecanismo para extender la vida laboral, aumentar los ingresos y generar nuevas oportunidades, a fin de mantener a los adultos mayores activos, situación que significa, a su vez, un menor peso para la carga fiscal del país.Este trabajo tiene como objetivo hacer una revisión de la literatura sobre el emprendimiento en la tercera edad, analizar las oportunidades y los obstáculos que enfrenta este creciente sector de la población. Asimismo, se exploran las razones y condiciones que determinan las causas por las que este fenómeno llegará, con el paso del tiempo, a tener una mayor importancia en la sociedad chilena.Keywords: tercera edad, oportunidades, emprendimiento, barreras, envejecimiento, población. Abstract:As the population ages and the retirement age increases, countries have begun to realize the importance of senior entrepreneurship, as a means to extend the working age, increase income for the elder, especially those with low pensions and to generate opportunities to keep this people economically active.This paper aims to review the literature of elderly entrepreneurship, analyzing the opportunities and obstacles being faced by this sector of the population. The reasons and conditions that have made this phenomenon increasingly important to our society in Chile are also explored.

Abstract. This study considers the novel topic of comparing firm failure processes between different countries. For seventy bankrupt Finnish firms corresponding pairs are found among Estonian bankrupt firms based on industry, size and time of bankruptcy. Despite the similarity of firms from two countries, the analysis shows remarkable differences in both pre-failure financial data and reasons for failure. Based only on financial data, five failure processes are detected for Finnish and six for Estonian firms. Established failure processes associate with different failure reasons. The study contributes to literature by showing that for similar companies failure processes can differ across countries. In practice, the established information about different failure processes can be applied when building or using bankruptcy prediction models.

This study attempts to identify the antecedents of business success in the Malaysian perspective, with particular reference to small businesses under the Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA) scheme. Cross sectional data were collected from 199 small businesses operating under the (FELDA) scheme via questionnaire. The data collected were analysed using partial least square method. The empirical results indicated that only entrepreneurial competency and technology usage are related to successes of small businesses. However, this study found insufficient empirical evidence to support the relationship between marketing capability, financial resources, knowledge sharing, and business success. As this study was confined to the small businesses under the FELDA scheme, this provides valuable findings by uncovering the differences among the critical success factors due to the different reasons for formation of the small businesses. The insights gained from this study could facilitate industry practitioners to develop comprehensive business strategies and effective institutional policies to maintain the global competitiveness of small businesses under the FELDA scheme.
