A cross-sectional study of learning styles among continuing medical education participants

Abstract: Internal medicine and psychiatry CME participants had diverse learning styles. Female participants had more variation in their learning styles than men. Teaching techniques must vary to appeal to all learners. The experiential learning theory sequentially moves a learner from Why? to What? to How? to If? to accommodate learning styles.

Besides, the above studies analyzed a single factor only, the joint effects of multiple factors should be an important research line.…”

“…Engaging in a variety of student-centered activities allows the educator to reach a larger number of students with different learning styles. Medical students might suggest varied teaching styles, which have been shown to be preferred [ 9 , 10 ]. Faculty members who try new teaching methods may find that students become more engaged and improve their performance [ 2 ], which could further encourage them to try additional methods.…”
