Abstract:Many current and proposed programs of satellite remote sensing of the Earth and other celestial bodies rely upon measurements of the intensity and polarization of light scattered by these bodies. These measurement data are interpreted by searching for the best fits to light-scattering characteristics precalculated with some theoretical models. For regolith-like surfaces, i.e., discrete densely packed random media, the light-scattering models are still under development and they work under different approaches.… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
