A Critical Review on Colorimetric and Fluorescent Probes for the Sensing of Analytes via Relay Recognition from the year 2012–17

Abstract: Designing an effective sensor molecule for the selective detection of analyte with dual sensitivity is an innovative approach and is expected to offer huge biological and environmental benefits. Contrary to other sensing process, the reversible recognition of two different analytes while varying the binding sites and signaling subunits is entirely a new concept as the metal ion present in the ensemble can be easily displaced in the presence of ionic or neutral analytes. A reversible strategy can also be employ… Show more

“…Moreover, insoluble CuS has practical limitations in the environmental eld, since sensing studies are carried out in water or organic solvents or a mixture of organic solvents/water. 35 As is known, the size reduction of nanomaterials into 0D quantum dots can cause signicant alteration in their physical and chemical properties due to a quantum connement effect. Shuang et al synthesized stable water soluble amorphous and crystalline CuS QDs with average diameters of 2.7 and 3.3 nm, respectively, and exploited their properties in the antiproliferation of human cancer cells.…”

“…[24][25][26][27][28][29][30][31] In this regard, many reports are available which involve extensive investigations for the multifunctional sensor molecules towards cation-cation, or, anion-anion, or, anion-cation, or, cation-anion, or, ionicneutral or neutral-ionic analytes combinations. 32 There are few reports available on Fe 3+ -CN À recognition. [33][34][35][36][37][38] However, triple analyte selective receptors are not common.…”

“…Excess copper and iron in the body cause cell toxicity, cancer and several neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Menkes and Wilson. Thus, in recent years, there has been interesting research in the field of the development of colorimetric and/or fluorimetric chemical sensors suitable for the quick and simple detection of important cations for the biological and environmental media [1][2][3][4][5][6].…”
