<p><strong>Abstract.</strong> Historical small urban centres are of increasing interest to different interacting fields such as architectural heritage protection and conservation, urban planning, disaster response, sustainable development and tourism. They are defined at different levels (international, national, regional), by various organizations and standards, incorporate numerous aspects (natural and built environment, infrastructures and open spaces, social, economic, and cultural processes, tangible and intangible heritage) and face various challenges (urbanization, globalization, mass tourism, climate change, etc.). However, their current specification within large-scale geospatial databases is similar to those of urban areas in a broad sense resulting in the loss of many aspects forming this multifaceted concept. The present study considers the available ontologies and data models, coming from various domains and having different granularities and levels of detail, to represent historical small urban centres information. The aim is to define the needs for extension and integration of them in order to develop a multidisciplinary, integrated semantic representation. Relevant conventions and other legislation documents, ontologies and standards for cultural heritage (CIDOC-CRM, CRMgeo, Getty Vocabularies), 3D city models (CityGML), building information models (IFC) and regional landscape plans are analysed to identify concepts, relations, and semantic features that could form a holistic semantic model of historical small urban centres.</p>

The paper presents the approach that extends the opportunities of Web environments in BIM model processing and allows implementation of the bigger amount of analysis that is based on the object’s positioning. With the developed relations, the objects in the BIM model can be considered not just like independent 3D objects in the WebGL environment but as objects that are linked between each other and can act by the rules that defined to each type of the objects. Correlated co-ordinates will be useful for the architects, building operators and facility managers who use the BIM model for the management of the building and its components. This method can be used to increase the effectiveness of space management, clash detection, relocation management and space programming as well as existing conditions modelling and lighting analysis can be done in a way that is more efficient due to possibility of implementation of the survey coordinate system that will give the coordinates to each object in the scene.

Web based BIM platforms are powerful tools for the architects and constructors therefore there exists big amount of such projects around the globe. Each of them has own advantages and disadvantages therefore it is important to understand which platform brings more benefits for the users in relation to the BIM model processing and project management. For this purposes Web based BIM systems need to be analysed and compared by their tools and opportunities. This paper is presenting the results of such comparison in condition of WebBIM platform development with the purpose of better understanding of the further development way.
