A Critical Review of Shipbreaking Literature Reveals Shortcomings in Dimensions Considered for Sustainability

Abstract: The shipbreaking industry is located predominantly in South Asian countries, and dismantles end-of-life ships to meet national steel demand. There are charges that this industry exploits local environmental, economic and social conditions to boost profits.
