“…The HRAP was inoculated with a mixture of 833 mg volatile suspended solids (VSS) L −1 microalgal biomass and 2740 mg VSS L −1 of activated sludge obtained from the aeration tank of a municipal wastewater treatment plant. The microalgal biomass was composed of a mixed microalgae collected from an aquatic environment in Queretaro State, Mexico, and propagated in Bold medium . Scenedesmus sp.…”

“…It has been observed via light microscopy that the predominant species has been changed from scenedesmus and chlorella to only scenedesmus while growing in lab conditions and also using bolds mineral medium. The main reason would be the medium composition, since the bolds medium has been proved to support the growth of chlorohycae family of microalgae [2]. Besides, the color also changed from light green to dark green due the continuous light supply and sequential dark: photo period which promoted the better growth of biomass.…”

“…Besides, the color also changed from light green to dark green due the continuous light supply and sequential dark: photo period which promoted the better growth of biomass. Additionally scenedesmus has been reported as high carbohydrate accumulating microalgae and also grown easily using wastewaters and inexpensive medium conditions [2,5,8]. The pH of the medium has changed significantly (from 7.5 to 6.2) mainly due to the release of nitrogen compounds and also the biomass concentration.…”
