The drive system of shearer traction unit is affected by complex load interference and system structure, which results in the problem of unbalanced power of dual-motor of shearer traction unit. A new type of dual-motor frequency conversion control system for shearer traction unit with “common rectification and dual inverters” is designed. And a dual-motor power balance control method based on particle swarm optimization torque cross-coupled control is proposed. The new frequency conversion control system adopts a parallel structure of two inverter circuits with a common DC bus. Particle swarm optimization is used to optimize the PID control parameters of torque cross-coupling control, which solves the problem that it is difficult to gain optimal PID parameters. The control model is established using Matlab/Simulink simulation software. The proposed control method and the master-slave control method are compared by simulation. The results show that the control effect of proposed control method is better synchromization and power balance effect than the master-slave control method. The proposed control method is applied to dual-motor control of shearer traction unit for experimental verification. The results indicate that the proposed power balance control method realizes that the output torque ratio of dual-motor is between 0.9 and 1.1.

The cooperative control of shearer and scraper conveyors is the prerequisite for the realization of intelligent comprehensive mining equipment and unmanned comprehensive mining workings. However, because of the harsh working face environment, the complex process of comprehensive mining, and the many uncertainties, it is difficult to establish a mathematical model for the cooperative control of shearer and scraper conveyors precisely through the operating mechanism. In the era of big data, the data-driven model has become a popular trend. Therefore, according to the actual production process data, this article proposed a data-driven cooperative control model of shearer–scraper conveyor based on rough set theory. First, the selection method of process monitoring parameters based on rough set theory was proposed to remove redundant parameters and redundant parameter values. Moreover, the decision rule base of cooperative speed regulation of shearer and scraper conveyor was established. Then a collaborative speed regulation decision algorithm based on attribute importance was designed. The algorithm matches the decision rules according to the real-time observation data and then determines the running speed of the shearer. The simulation results show that the proposed data-driven collaborative control model of shearer–scraper conveyor based on rough set theory overcomes the limitations of the mathematical model. It can predict the running speed of shearer well and realize the collaborative speed regulation of shearer–scraper conveyor.

During long-term operation, the scraper conveyor chute is seriously attrited by the friction of coal, gangue, and scraper chain. In this study, the discrete element method was applied to establish the bulk coal–scraper conveyor interaction analysis model to predict the wear of a scraper conveyor chute during the transporting process. The wear of the chute was investigated under various working conditions and bulk coal characteristics. Results indicated that the chute wear has a negative correlation with the laying angle of the scraper conveyor and increased with the chain speed. The wear was more severe as the increasing of gangue content, hardness, and size of the coal particles. In addition, the wear degree in different sections on the chute was predicted. Results showed that the section near the coal falling point underwent more intense collisions and impact and, thus, the wear was more serious at this location. The wear loss decreased with the increasing distance away from this point. This research can be used for predicting the wear of a scraper conveyor working under different mines. What’s more, the wear-resistant treatment can be applied on the particular areas according to the mine conditions based on this study.
