A Controlled Trial of Povidone–Iodine as Prophylaxis against Ophthalmia Neonatorum

Abstract: A 2.5 percent ophthalmic solution of povidone-iodine as prophylaxis against ophthalmia neonatorum is more effective than treatment with silver nitrate or erythromycin, and it is less toxic and costs less.
