A Control Approach of the Roof in No-Pillar Roadway Formed by Roof Cutting and Pressure Releasing

Abstract: Roof control is one of the eternal themes of mine pressure theory, and it is also a key step of roadway formed by roof cutting. Based on the analysis of abutment pressure distribution, the viewpoint of controlling roadway roof by roof cutting distance is put forward according to the failure limit of roadway roof, and the calculation method of roof cutting distance is given. Based on the Qiuji coal mine’s background, the numerical and field test study is conducted to verify the theoretical analysis, and the all… Show more

“…The process flow of gob-side entry retaining by roof cutting is shown in Figure 1, (1) In order to ensure the stability of the roadway during the reuse period, high prestressed an-chors are used to support the roof before the working face is mined [12,13]. (2) Bidirectional energy-gathering blasting technology is used to pre-split the roof strata of the roadway, cut off the connection of the roof strata between the roadway and the gob, and ensure that the roof strata collapse in time after the working face is mined to fill the gob and form a new rib of the roadway [2,14]. (3) After the working face is mined, in order to ensure the stability of the roof strata, the roadway is temporarily supported by single pillar [15,16].…”

“…Unlike the traditional gob-side entry retention, the gob-side entry retaining by roof cutting cuts off the roof strata of the roadway and the gob using bidirectional concentrated blasting technology [1][2][3]. After the working face is mined, the roof strata of the gob collapse and form a new rib.…”

“…GERRC uses presplit blasting to change the stress distribution and uses the features of broken and caving gangue expansion to achieve the GER. 12,13 As a new mining technology developed in recent years, 14 GERRC has become a requirement for building green mines. 15 Many scholars and technicians are exploring the parameters of presplitting and roadway support in different geological conditions from the aspects of theoretical analysis, numerical simulation, similar experiments, and engineering tests.…”
