A Contrastive Study of Cohesion in English and Chinese

Abstract: Cohesion, as the primary means of reaching discourse coherence, is one of the most important aspects of textual linguistics. Both English and Chinese employ cohesive devices, but they belong to different language families and the ways of their thought are different from each other, so there exists much dissimilarity between Chinese cohesion and English cohesion.
