A Continuous Process for Validation, Verification, and Accreditation of Simulation Models

Abstract: A simulation model, and more generically, a model, is founded on its assumptions. Assurance of the model’s correctness and correct use is needed to achieve accreditation. Often the exercise of working with a specific code misunderstands the overall process, focusing the resources on the model coding and forgetting the needed resources to ensure the validation of every step of the model definition and coding. The goal of this work is to present a methodology to help in the definition and use of the assumptions … Show more

“…This article considers both a linear and non-linear approach to the effect of hydrostatic pressure and the presence of support elements in the water cavity. The similarity in the results from both approaches is another step in validating the accuracy of the presented method [39].…”

“…It also helps to communicate the model's quality and credibility to the stakeholders and users of the model. There are other proposals more complete [40][41][42], but in our approach, this is enough to express the advantages of the use of a formal language like SDL. model.…”

“…model. There are other proposals more complete [40][41][42], but in our approach, this is enough to express the advantages of the use of a formal language like SDL. The model validation is performed with the SDL representation of the model, such that all the stakeholders involved in the project can participate in the validation process.…”

“…The most important stage in the development of a simulation model is its validation, which allows one to assess the degree of adequacy of the model to the real object being modeled. To validate and verify computer models, the literature describes the use of various statistical parameters, such as Cochran's test, Student's t-test, and Zale statistics [18][19][20].…”
