Abstract:A new device has been developed which delivers regulated oxygen mixtures for use in respiratory therapy. The device is simple and compact for use at the bedside, and From the Harvard
Inspired oxygen concentration has been measured when ventilating lung models and patients with Bird pressure cycled respirators. It has been found that with normal lungs the inspired oxygen concentration is predictable from the end-inspiratory pressure recorded on the respirator manometer. When lung mechanics are abnormal, the relationship between inspired oxygen concentration and end-inspiratory pressure is not sufficiently precise to allow accurate prediction of inspired concentration of oxygen.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations –citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
