A comprehensive review on BPA degradation by heterogeneous Fenton-like processes

Abstract: Synthetic organic pollutants emanating continuously in the ecosystem have become a global concern because of their toxicity and persistent nature. Bisphenol A (BPA) is one such pollutant which threatens public health and safety. It is a monomer used in manufacturing plastics, polycarbonate resins, epoxy resins and is a well-recognised endocrine disruptor miming estrogen. BPA leaches into food and beverages stored in containers causing contamination issues. Its widespread exposure and potential toxicity is an e… Show more

“…This results in the destruction of the benzene ring structure of CV and finally degradation into small organic molecules. 31,32 Generally, these results further verify that AuNP/UIO-66@Au is suitable for reaction monitoring using the SERS method.…”

“…At temperatures ranging from 310 K, 320 K and 330 K, the degradation efficiency was found to increase with increase in temperature up to 91%. 82 On building a bridge between nanomaterials and eggshell waste, Wang et al designed eggshell-supported copper oxide and used a peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activator for the removal of reactive blue 19 (RB19). The CuO/eggshell catalyst showed a high degradation efficiency of approximately 100% with 20 mg L −1 of RB19, 0.2 g L −1 of CuO/eggshell, 0.36 mM of PMS and a pH of 7.12 within 20 min.…”

“…[56] However, photocatalytic degradation is regarded as the most favorable method due to its eco-friendliness, superior efficiency, relatively low cost, and straightforward operation. [57][58][59] Furthermore, traditional methods are difficult to operate and in some circumstances, cause secondary contamination. [60,61] As a result, it is critical to discover a cost-effective, efficient, and ecologically friendly approach to remove BPA from polluted water.…”
