A comprehensive review of last experimental studies on thermal conductivity of nanofluids

Abstract: In this paper, the last experimental results of the thermal conductivity of nanofluids have been investigated; therefore, because of the enormous numbers or some repetitions of such studies, it just tried to focus on those which had more acceptable results; however, it is not intended to present a systematic summary of the available references from the literature. All kinds of nanoparticles such as Al 2 O 3 , Fe 3 O 4 , TiO 2 , and CuO and their base fluids such as water, engine oil, glycol, and ethylene glyco… Show more

“…While it is clear that an increase in thermal conductivity of a nanofluid will increase heat transfer through the fluid and therefore improves the heat transfer coefficients161718, it is difficult to directly relate an improvement in thermal conductivity of a nanofluid to an increase in specific heat19. An increase in the specific heat of a nanofluid is advantageous in thermal storage and heat transfer applications, because it increases the amount of energy stored or absorbed per unit mass.…”

“…Theoretical investigation on the effects of nanofluids has been systematically reported and well documented, which can be found in the open literature [11][12][13][14][15][16]. In addition, rigorous readers can find a comprehensive review of the last experimental studies on nanofluids in the literature such as [17,18].…”
