A Comprehensive Overview of Hybrid Electric Vehicles

Abstract: As the environmental pollution and energy crises are getting more and more remarkable, hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) have taken on an accelerated pace in the world. A comprehensive overview of HEVs is presented in this paper, with the emphasis on configurations, main issues, and energy management strategies. Conclusions are discussed finally.

“…Several other approaches have been proposed in the literature, such as Equivalent Consumption Minimization Strategy (ECMS), Genetic algorithms, Fuzzy logic, Rule-based, Thermostat ... [4], [5], [6]. All these methods can be much faster than DP, but to the best of our knowledge, none of them found solutions of better quality than DP.…”

“…In recent years, research on the development of electric vehicle is increasing, due to the increasing number of motor vehicles in the world consumption of 700 million in a 2.5 billion along with the increasing world population of 6 billion in 2000 to 10 billion in 2050 [1]. Research to develop electric vehicles lies in various aspects such as the battery's ability to store energy, improving the efficiency of the electric motor as the driving force, the material component architecture with lighter materials and power electronics [2].…”
