A comprehensive insight into effects of resveratrol on molecular mechanism in rheumatoid arthritis: A literature systematic review

Abstract: Aim Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an inflammatory autoimmune disease, which is characterized by massive pain and destruction of synovial joints, leads to bone erosion, damage to cartilage, and disability. Several studies suggested that resveratrol supplementation may be effective in the prevention and management of RA. Therefore, a systematic review was conducted to summarize published studies that assess the effect of resveratrol supplementation on the complications of RA. Methods A comprehensive search to ide… Show more

“…However, they overlooked the effects of prostaglandin, which is cellular inflammation and pain. By reducing part of the mechanism that induces cardiovascular events, our hypothesis is that this would result in reduction of ischemic stroke, as evidenced by the data presented in our cohort study (40,44,(46)(47)(48)(49)(50). Conversely, due to the reduction in prostaglandin production by COX enzyme inhibition, there might be related gastrointestinal side effects such as gastric ulcers.…”

“…If RF‐positive JIA is regarded as the same disease as adult RF‐positive rheumatoid arthritis, the optional therapeutic plan is shared. Controlled clinical trials testing new drugs could be first performed in adults, then convenient open‐label studies to assess proper dose and long‐term safety in children could be performed after safety and efficacy have been demonstrated 9,10 . In this way, the procedure to obtain new drugs registration in children could be greatly accelerated 11 …”

“…Furthermore, NSAIDs inhibit thromboxane, which is a vasoconstrictor. By suppressing thromboxane synthesis, NSAIDs help to dilate blood vessels, reducing the likelihood of blockages and thereby lowering the risk of ischemic stroke [ 141 , 143 , 147 151 ].…”
