Abstract:The Pakistani wheat cultivars under investigation exhibited different cell doubling times not only in the control but also differed in response to increasing the external NaCI concentration. The rates of metaphase accumulation of the cultivars were very slow and thus cell doubling times were very long. This may be a reflection of very slow mitotic activity in root meristems.
