A comparison of the different versions of popular technology acceptance models

Abstract: Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to provide a complete and chronological view of the evolution of the main acceptance and use of technology models, from the 1970s to the present day. Design/methodology/approach – A comparison of partial least squares (linear model) and WarpPLS (non-linear model) has been run for each acceptation of technology model: TRA, TAM0, TAM1, TAM2, TAM3, UTAUT, UTAUT2. The data set collects the information o… Show more

“…It is asserted that UTAUT model is better than previous model in terms of explanatory power (Venkatesh et al, 2003(Venkatesh et al, , 2012. UTAUT model plays a key role in the academic sciences about technology acceptance of users and it helps to explain why users accept or reject particular technology (Lai, 2017;Rondan-Catauna et al, 2015;Samaradiwakara & Gunawardena, 2014). This research does not examine how UTAUT model performs in explaining Cambodian users' behavior intention towards mobile payment.…”

“…Finally, although the ratio of the explained variance of the intention to use SVP for learning by the independent variables of the model is within the accepted range for this phenomenon [57], there is still an unexplained proportion. Therefore, we believe that it is necessary to continue in this line of work to increase this percentage.…”

“…the real use of technology, UTAUT2 explains 56% of variance compared to the 40% explained by UTAUT on the same set of data. In 2015, Rondan-Cataluna et al [14] compared the TRA, TAM, TAM2, TAM3, UTAUT and UTAUT2 models and showed that UTAUT2 has a 26% better power of explaining than the TAM models on the sample of end-users of mobile Internet, i.e. in the consumer context.…”
