A comparison of research data management platforms: architecture, flexible metadata and interoperability

Abstract: Research data management is rapidly becoming a regular concern for researchers, and institutions need to provide them with platforms to support data organization and preparation for publication. Some institutions have adopted institutional repositories as the basis for data deposit, whereas others are experimenting with richer environments for data description, in spite of the diversity of existing workflows. This paper is a synthetic overview of current platforms that can be used for data management purposes.… Show more

“…Due to the large number of datasets anticipated, Comprehensive Knowledge Archive Network (CKAN) proved to be the best option in that it is widely used and powers big data hubs and data portals. It allows for easy data publication, discovery, sharing and accessibility (Amorim et al, 2017. ), (Kucera, et al, 2012) and (Winn, et al, 2013).…”

“…The authors of the article ''The Electronic Record in the school-family relationship: Perceptions of Teachers and Guardians'' [2] studied a new form of communication between the school and the family, through an Electronic Record (ER), using a questionnaire to analyse the perceptions of teachers and guardians towards the adoption of an ER. In the article ''A comparison of research data management platforms: Architecture, flexible metadata and interoperability'' [3] made an overview of current platforms that can be used for data management purposes and which was designed for institutional repositories and digital libraries. The authors of ''Using NVivo to Assess a Program of Goal Corrected Empathic Attunement Skills: A Case Study in the Context of Higher Education'' [4] focuses on the use of NVivo10 in the process of assessing a developmental program in Goal Corrected Emphatic.…”
