A Systematic Review of the Technology Acceptance Model for the Sustainability of Higher Education during the COVID-19 Pandemic and Identified Research Gaps

Over the past three decades, the Technology Acceptance model (TAM) has garnered considerable attention in higher education. COVID-19 boosted the development of TAM as multiple studies were rapidly undertaken during the pandemic. This, however, created a gap in our current understanding of the directions and trends of TAM advancement. The purpose of this study is to obtain insight into the advancement of TAM throughout the pandemic. It would assist researchers in comprehending the advancement and direction of TAM studies in higher education, such as gaining an understanding of the prevalent external variables for TAM, the statistical analysis employed, research methodologies, the technologies studied, and the geographic location of the research conducted. Finally, research gaps and future directions for TAM studies are presented. A systematic review utilizing PRISMA was conducted on 104 sampled publications. It was found that self-efficacy, subjective norms, experience, and enjoyment were the external variables most frequently used in TAM, while internal motivation received minimal attention. The existing studies have focused mainly on student samples, so further investigation is needed into lecturers, higher education personnel, and mixed groups. Further study is also required on qualitative and mixed methods, with the partial least square structural equation model currently dominating statistical analysis. Future technologies such as 5G, AI, cloud computing, augmented reality, virtual reality, and BYOD represent new TAM-related research gaps. The majority of studies have been undertaken in Asian countries, such as China and those in southeast Asia. This new systematic literature review provides insight into the trend of TAM advancement in the sustainability of higher education during the pandemic, the identified research gaps, and recommendations for future research directions. These findings also serve as a reference for future research by enhancing the foundation established by previous reviews and research on TAM, thereby facilitating the model’s ongoing expansion.

This research aims to determine and analyze the influence of Lecturer Readiness and Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) on Lecturer Performance post the COVID-19. This research uses quantitative methods with a survey type. The research was conducted at the Esa Unggul University campus in Jakarta. The research period is from July to September 2023. The research population is all lecturers at Esa Unggul University, Jakarta. The sampling technique was probability sampling with simple random sampling, using the Slovin formula to obtain 150 samples. The data collection technique uses a questionnaire, while the data analysis technique uses descriptive statistics, outer model and inner model with SEM-PLS software. The research results show that Lecturer Readiness and TAM have a positive and significant effect on Lecturer Performance post the COVID-19 pandemic. Improving performance after the COVID-19 pandemic must be accompanied by increasing Lecturer Readiness and TAM indicators.

The Genetics module based on a learning management system (LMS) is a standalone website with an instructional design for self-study about genetic literacy. This module is expected to be useful for medical students of Universitas Riau (FK UNRI) from various class years to study at any time. The purpose of this study was to find comparative results of self-study of genetic modules based on LMS among UNRI's medical students in various class years and to determine effectiveness of genetics module based on learning management system among medical students of Universitas Riau. The research method was quantitative. The subjects were 34 UNRI's medical students who were taken proportionally from three class years. The research data was obtained using the UNC-GKS questionnaire. The results showed that the average pre-test scores for the first, second, and third years were 58, 58, and 63. The statistical test results for comparing the pre-test scores of these three class years gave no significant difference. The results of the average post-test scores for the first, second and third years were 58, 68, and 68. The results of the statistical test comparing the post-test scores of these three class years gave no significant difference also. The results of the Wilcoxon test was p < 0.02 which means that there was an increase in genetic literacy scores after FK UNRI students take genetic modules based on the learning management system for independent learning at FK UNRI. The conclusion was the selfstudy of the genetic module based on the LMS among UNRI's medical students gave no significant difference when viewed from the difference in the year of class. There was an increase in genetic literacy scores after FK UNRI students take a genetic module based on the learning management system for independent learning at FK UNRI. Therefore, UNRI 's medical students can study genetics module based on learning management system from various class years and at any time.
