A comparison of clinical pathologic characteristics between alpha-fetoprotein negative and positive liver cancer patients from Eastern and Southern China

Abstract: Background Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is a biomarker used in clinical management of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), however, approximately 40% of HCC patients do not present with elevated serum AFP levels.
