A Comparison of Circular and Linear OPLC Separations of Naturally-Occurring Compounds

Poster 533 We found that using HPLC-analysis combined with diode array (UV-vis) detection an overview of the constituents in Eupatorium cannabinum L. could be obtained (3).In the present contribution we describe the HPLC conditions used to study the occurance of several groups of related compounds in a number of Eupatorium species. For detection a diode array UV-vis spectrophotometer was used. With this detection system an overview of the compounds, present in the Eupatorium species investigated, could be obtained when the data were plotted as a "three dimensional chromatogram".It was found that large differences between the various Eupatorium species did occur; in some species lactones were present in abundance, in other species they did not occur at all.
