Sport training involves repeated bouts of exercise and high volume of physically demanding practice sessions and competitive games, which may lead to decline on performance, oxidative stress, and inflammation (Margonis K. et. al., 2007, Finaud J. et. al., 2006) Handball is considered a demanding exercise mode that places important stress on a players aerobic metabolism. In addition, handball game involves a large number of anaerobic actions such as bodycontact, repeated accelerations, sprints, jumps, throwing, blocking, pushing, and rapid changes in moving directions (Ronglan L.T. et. al., 2006, Gorostiaga E.M. et. al., 2006). Studies in elite handball players have focused only on performance parameters like maximal muscle strength, sprint time, and jump height in response to a tournament (Ronglan L.T. et. al., 2006). During a competitive handball season, the demand for playing two games per week elevates the stress imposed to the athletes, thereby increasing the injury risk and performance decline due to fatigue and muscle damage. Most prevalent injuries in handball is today, without any doubt, an extremely traumatic sport and it will be getting even more so with reference to the increase of strength, speed, and rhythm of the game. Numerous injuries which occur during the training process and games do not differ greatly with reference to age and sex (Wedderkopp N. et. al., 1997, Junge A. et. al., 2004).

Objectives:The purpose of this study was to compare the anaerobic power of amateur futsal and handball players utilizing the Wingate Test. Material and Methods: Twenty-two athletes between the ages of 18 to 21, who agreed to participate in the research after reading and signing the Terms of Free and Clarified Consent, took part in the Wingate Test using 7.5% of their total body mass. The relative and absolute Maximum Power (MP); relative and absolute Average Power (Ap) and Fatigue Rate (FR) were compared. The statistical method used was the non-paired t-student test with a significance level of P < 5%. Results: Handball players presented higher values of absolute MP (879.45 ± 182.22 W) and Ap (671.91 ± 109.37) when compared to the values of MP (749.00 ± 71.94) and Ap (600.42 ± 52.72) of futsal players. However, there was no significant difference when the variables studied were relative to the MP and Ap and Fatigue Rate. Conclusions: Based on these results, it can be concluded that handball presents greater alactic anaerobic power compared to futsal where, most likely, the importance of certain characteristics and specific training contributes to the determination of the predominant metabolic medium during sport practice.

Based on the v-t (speed-time) curves in physics, this study analyzes 4 × 100 m relay baton transition period and describes 4 different relay baton transition period v-t state characteristics curves. We can calculate from the curves that the speed of the first three athletes at the moment of transition is above the 96% of the average speed of 100-meter. The research reveals that the ideal v-t curve is a smooth semi-circular curve (without the launching phase). The stability and continuity during the baton transition period are the key factors in 4 × 100 m relay race.
