A comparative study on the results of beating and arrested heart isolated tricuspid valve surgery: A cross‐sectional study

Abstract: Background and Aims: The isolated tricuspid valve surgery is performed using beating or arrested heart surgery. The present study aimed to evaluate and compare the results of patients who underwent isolated tricuspid valve surgery using the beating and arrested heart techniques. Methods:In this retrospective observational study, all patients undergoing isolated tricuspid valve surgery between 2011 and 2018 were included. The patient's demographic information, echocardiographic, surgery, and hospitalization res… Show more

“…The left ventricular ejection fraction was measured by visual assessment or the Simpsons method. The wall motion was examined by the 16 segments model, which the American Society of Echocardiography has suggested (Bigdelu et al, 2022; Mohammadi et al, 2022).…”

“…6 In this regard, the most common way to monitor cardiac function is estimating left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) using echocardiography. 7 However, determining LVEF cannot detect early changes and toxicities and is costly and challenging. 8 Therefore, there is great interest in finding a sensitive, accessible, and costeffective circulating biomarker to detect anthracycline-induced cardiotoxicity early.…”

“…Therefore, early diagnosis of chemotherapy‐induced cardiotoxicity and left ventricular dysfunction is of high clinical importance 6 . In this regard, the most common way to monitor cardiac function is estimating left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) using echocardiography 7 . However, determining LVEF cannot detect early changes and toxicities and is costly and challenging 8 .…”

“…Off‐pump CABG is considered the newer method and performed with the heart beating and without CPB (Shekar, 2006). Although valve replacement surgery and CABG with the use of CPB have similar intraoperative procedures, the patients in these two categories have different pathologies, which may alter their responses to similar injuries (Bigdelu et al, 2022; Rahsepar et al, 2013).…”
