A Comparative Study on Polyphenolic Composition of Berries from the Tibetan Plateau by UPLC‐Q‐Orbitrap MS System

Abstract: Five traditional medicinal food from the Tibetan plateau including Nitraria tangutorum Bobrov (NT), Hippophae rhamnoides L. (HR), Lycium ruthenicum Murray (LR), Lycium barbarum L. (LB) and Rubus corchorifolius L.f. (RC) are rich in phenolic compounds. However, the detailed studies about the phenolic compounds remain scarce. Therefore, we established a rapid method for the simultaneous identification and quantification of the phenolic compounds from berries via Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography-Quadruple-… Show more

“…Identification of phenolic compounds in buckwheat samples ( Figure S1 ) was based on their retention times relative to the authentic standards and on mass spectral data (accurate mass determination generating elemental composition and fragmentation patterns of a molecular ion) obtained by LC-MS, which were compared with those described in previous studies made on Orbitrap analysis of phenolic compounds [ 20 , 22 , 64 ].…”

“…Kaempferol and kaempferide were isolated from Hippophae rhamnoides L., as previously described [20,56]. OA, oil red O and sulforhodamine B (SRB) were purchased from Sigma-Aldrich (St. Louis, MO, USA).…”

“…Figure 1 presents the total ion chromatogram (TIC). Compounds were identified based on detailed scrutiny of their mass spectra using the precursor ion, fragment ions, and comparison of the fragmentation patterns with molecules described in the literature [ 23 , 25 , 26 , 27 ]. Table 1 summarizes the identification of these compounds, and they are numbered according to their retention times.…”

“…Total ion chromatograms (TIC) were processed in MzMine 2 software (Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research, Cambridge, MA, USA). Compounds were annotated after detailed scrutiny of the ultraviolet-visible and high-resolution mass spectral (exact mass of quasi-molecular and fragment ions) data of each signal, compared to the information previously reported in the literature for Lycium species [ 25 , 26 , 27 , 30 ].…”
