A comparative study on grid resource utilization rate between China Southern Power Grid and National Grid Plc of UK

Abstract: Grid resource utilization rate plays a key role in power grid operation. Although the proportion of population and the area in China Southern Power Grid (CSG) and National Grid Plc of UK (NG) are nearly, grid resources utilization of CSG is lower than that of NG. In this paper, the utilization of human resources and equipment resources of CSG and NG have been reviewed. It is discovered that there is a large gap between these two companies. The results show that the utilization in CSG is about 20% to 50% of tha… Show more

“…The processes of generation, transmission, distribution, and sales in the power market are separated, and the behaviors of multiple participants are becoming more independent and complex [3][4][5]. At the same time, with the energy structure transition and the development of a smart grid in China [6,7], the uncertainty of a transmission network further increases, which generates many new operational scenarios [8][9][10]. When the transmission capacity of the network is insufficient, the power flow through the transmission line is limited due to the physical constraints of a secure and stable operation, and the transmission congestion then takes place [11,12].…”

“…With the rapid development of China's power grid, various fault detection methods have emerged, and data related to power equipment are being immensely generated [9,10]. Sufficient data volume makes it possible to mine potential information using datadriven methods.…”
