A comparative study on approaches to curve fitting of magnetization characteristics for induction generators

Abstract: The curve fitting of magnetizing characteristics of self excited induction generators (SEIG) resulting airgap voltage (V g ) with magnetising current (I m ) is crucial for performance analysis of such machines using design tools. The magnetisation characteristic may be obtained using the B -H curve of the core material. An appropriate curve fitting technique/regression analysis is employed to represent V g -I m curve from which V g -X m curve can be derived. There is wide literature on approximation of magneti… Show more

“…To test the accuracy of this DNN model, several typical magnetization curve models were fitted according to previous studies based on the same dataset [21], which included a 3rd degrees polynomial, hyperbolic, two exponential functions, and one transcendental function. All models are given by Equations (7)- (11).…”

“…The B-H curve of ferromagnetic material has high nonlinearity and is usually fitted by a polynomial function or exponential function (Sandeep et al , 2012). In this paper, the piecewise function is used to fit the B-H curve of the BSRM with iron-core, namely: …”

“…Terminal voltage and frequency of SEIG are sensitive to load demand and rotor shaft speed [7], [8]. Moreover, magnetic saturation characteristics of SEIG is essential for steady state analysis [9]. So regulation of terminal voltage and frequency are major concern for variable speed wind turbine.…”
