The current study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the phytoestrogen (lignan) in some hormonal parameters of white female rats induced osteoporosis with Prednisolone. The present study included two main experiments, In the first experiment 50 adult white female rats were divided into two groups, The first group G1 was considered a control group and the second group, G2 was induced into osteoporosis by Prednisolone at a dose of 40 mg/kg of body weight For two months. The second main experiment divided the remaining animals (from the first group of the first experiment into three subgroups) and the remaining animals (from the second group of the first experiment into two subgroups): negative control group C was dosed with distilled water, group T1 was considered a positive control that was continued with Prednisolone at a dose of 40 mg/kg of body weight, group T2, was induced osteoporosis and administered the phytoestrogens(lignan) at a dose of 20 mg/kg, the healthy T3 group was administered the phytoestrogens(lignan) at a dose of 20 mg/kg, and the T4 group was administered the phytoestrogens(lignan) at a dose of 20 mg/kg. And Prednisolone at a dose of 40 mg/kg simultaneously for 30 days. After the end of the second experiment, the weights of the animals were recorded and then anesthetized with chloroform withdrawal blood samples from the heart directly for hormonal tests that represent estrogen, FSH, LH. The results showed a significant decrease (P<0.05) in each of the average estrogen, FSH, LH level in the T1 group (positive control) when comparing to the negative group. while the cause of the phytoestrogen(lignan) improved The hormonal parameters and showed a significant increase (P<0.05) in estrogen, FSH, LH level in T2,T3,T4groups when comparing to T1 (positive control). We conclude from the current study the effective and positive role shown by phytoestrogens(lignan) in improving and enhancing the hormonal parameters and reducing the negative effects of induced osteoporosis in white female rats.

Osteoporosis is a worldwide disease characterized by reduction of bone mass, thus the aim of this study is to suppress glucocorticoid induced osteoporosis in female rats by the action of rosemary and thyme. The present study was carried out on thirty female rats. The rats were divided into six groups (five rats each). The first group was fed on a basal diet and represents the negative control, while the other five groups were injected subcutaneously with betamethasone at a dose of 4 mg/ kg BW three times a week. One group of them represents the positive control. The other four groups were fed on a basal diet containing 5% and 7.5% of rosemary and thyme for a period of eight weeks. The positive control group showed a significant decrease (P<0.05) in serum vitamin D3, Phosphorus (P), Calcium (Ca), levels and Estradiol (E2), Ca and P in femur bone with a substantial reduction in bone mineral density (BMD), and a significant increase in serum malondialdihyde (MDA),C-reactive protein (CRP),interleukin-6 (IL-6) and Alkaline phosphatase (ALP)compared with control group . On the other hand, all osteoporosis groups administrated with different levels at 5% and 7.5% of rosemary and thyme had a significant decrease in serum MDA,CRP,IL-6 and ALP and a significant increase at (P<0.05) in serum Vit D3, Ca, P ,E2 ,Ca, P in bone and BMD, compared with the positive control group. Conclusion rosemary and thyme herbs demonstrated bone protection in female rats against glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis. Rosemary and thyme had a potent protective effect due to its content of essential oils.
