A Comparative Study of Proton‐Emulsion and Heavy‐Ion‐Emulsion Interactions at 4.5 GeV/c per Nucleon

Abstract

Bbstra ct. This paper presents a comparative study of inelastic interactions of prot'on-Emulsion, 12C-Emulsion and 2Wg-Emulsion a t 4.5 GeV/c per nucleon. The multiplicity distribution and their corrclations have been studied. A strong correlation between <it,) and 7~)~ in case of 24Mg-Emulsion and W-Emulsion is observed which is not so in the case of proton-Emulsion interaction. It is also observed that <n,> increascs with the increase of the projectile mass. The angular distribution of the target fragments in 24Mg-Emulsion and W-Emulsion interactions show massive forward collirnations. Comparison is also made in the pseudorapidity distributions of 24Mg-Eniulsion, '2CC-Emulsion and proton-Emulsion interactions. ' L' he result shows many interesting features. Die Schwerionenexperimente zeigen eine voraarts collimierte, raumliche Verteilung der Target,fragmente. Die Pscudorapiditatsverteilung wird in allen Experimenten untersucht. 011 the oumulative production of mesons [4], the fragmentation of the relativistic nuclei [ 5 ] , the hypothesis of production of nuclear density isomers, and the formation of nuclear shock waves [C;] indicate that the study of collisions of relativistic nuclei is extremely attractive from the point of view of obtaining new important informations on the dynamics of strong interaction.
