A comparative study of ferrofluid lubrication on double-layer porous squeeze curved annular plates with slip velocity

Abstract: This article makes an effort to present a comparative study on the performance of a Shliomis model-based ferrofluid (FF) lubrication of a porous squeeze film in curved annular plates taking slip velocity into account. The modified Darcy’s law has been adopted to find the impact of the doublelayered porosity, while the slip velocity effect has been calculated according to Beavers and Joseph’s slip conditions. The modified Reynolds equation for the double-layered bearing system is solved to compute a dimensionle… Show more

“…With the use of Darcy's model, Morgan and Cameron [10] were the first researchers who inves-tigated the porous effect on bearing surfaces. Patel et al [12] have considered double-layer porous surface with a curved squeeze film. Bhat and Deheri [13] conducted a study on squeeze film behaviour in porous annular discs that are lubricated with magnetic fluid.…”

“…FF lubrication plays a crucial role to enhance the rate of heat transfer and load performance in various bearing designs such as short (Tipei , 1982), annular (Yang et al. , 2023; Patel et al. , 2022), conical, inclined slider, exponential slide (Lin and Chu, 2018), ball and textured rolling.…”
