A Comparative Study of Apical Leakage of Endomethasone, Top Seal, and Roeko Seal Sealer Cements

Abstract: A comparison was made of the apical leakage of three sealers. Fifty single-root human teeth were randomly divided into 5 groups (n = 10; 3 experimental and 2 control). The teeth of the positive-control and experimental groups were instrumented with K-type files to size 45. The experimental groups were obturated by laterally-vertically, condensed gutta-percha with Endomethasone, Top Seal, or RSA sealer cements. The positive-control group was nonobturated and the negative-control group was noninstrumented. The r… Show more

“…It is simple, fast, performed with substances low in toxins and does not require complex equipment (3,(23)(24)(25)(26)(27). Martin et al (2) also affirmed that the technique makes it easier to observe the lateral and accessory canals, and clearly reflects the relation between the sealing material and the apical foramen. However, Malvar et al (27) stated that some of the samples submitted to clearing may present deficient demineralization, which would compromise the final transparency of the specimen.…”

“…The phenomenon of capillarity is of utmost importance in this passive method used mainly for assessing apical leakage, as the tooth apex is submerged in the dye that penetrates through any space between the canal walls and filling material (19). Next, the teeth are sectioned longitudinally, transversely, or cleared and the linear penetration of the dye is recorded (2,21,22).…”

“…Bu yöntemlerden en sık kullanılanlar enine (horizontal) kesit alınması, uzunlamasına (longitüdinal) kesit alınması ve şeffaflaştırma yöntemidir. 17,18 Bu çalışmanın amacı, boya penetrasyon ve şeffaflaştırma yöntemi kullanılarak tek kon açılı güta perka kanal dolum tekniğinin apikal sızdırmazlığının lateral kondensasyon ve Thermafil teknikle karşılaştırılmasıdır.…”
