The main purpose of this research is to study the effects of yarn structure variables as key factors influencing the comfort characteristics of cotton towel fabrics. Results of this work can help the producers or manufacturer to create desired quality towel fabric using optimum yarn parameters. The heaviest Grams per Square Meter (GSM) and the highest water vapor permeability were recorded by the Egyptian variety (Giza 90) while the maximum water absorption and air permeability were recorded by the Sudan variety (Acala). It is shown that the mean values of all comfort properties except air permeability decreased when the yarn count and twist multiplier increased. It is obvious that most interaction effects among the yarn parameters (cotton materials, yarn count and twist multiplier) were no significant for all towel comfort properties. It is found negatively and highly significant correlation coefficient between air permeability and each one of the other towel comfort properties. On the other hand, it is indicated that the heavier and thicker towel had more ability to water absorption and water vapor permeability. Also, there was positive and highly significant relation between water absorption and water vapor permeability. Results indicated that there were positively and highly significant associations between yarn hairiness and all towel comfort properties except air permeability. On the contrary, negatively and highly significant associations were obtained between yarn properties being number of neps, thin and thick places and evenness CV % from one side and all towel comfort properties except air permeability from the other side. It is clear that the yarn elongation and yarn tenacity had weak and ineffective effects on the towel comfort properties.

Silk is the encapsulation of extravagance with regards to texture, whether it's for robes, sheets, or dresses. The costliest silk is Mulberry silk, which is acquired from the case of the Mulberry silkworm. These silkworms are brought up in imprisonment with ideal natural conditions to raise the most beneficial silkworms and produce the greatest silk. Silk creation costs have gone up with the presentation of engineered textures like polyester. Noil is an exceptionally short fiber, "Silk noils" are got from the loss in carding, combing and spinning of silk. At present great financial advantages are acquired by creating mulberry silk noil, cotton and polyester blended yarns by rotor spinning. 13s yarn count were produced in three blend ratios. The yarn produced on the open end system has been tested for quality parameters such as count strength product, yarn imperfections, hairiness, water drying time, evaporation, and absorbency. The goal of the investigation is to decide the appropriateness of mulberry silk noil yarns in home textile applications. In particular this type of yarn is used as weft yarn in towel manufacturing.

A Study on the Influence of Natural Agents on the Absorption Properties of Cotton Fabrics – Part 1

India has a strong and proven track record for the manufacturing of many textile products, mainly cotton-based textile materials. This research aims to investigate herbal extract–treated cotton fabrics with a focus on investigating absorption properties. The treated fabric samples were analyzed for their static absorption (%), immersion time (seconds), surface water absorption (milliliters), and vertical wicking height (centimeters). To evaluate the developed herbal extract–treated fabric samples, they were compared with market established commercial silver agents, namely nanosilver. The finished cotton fabrics with specifications of 140 g/m2, plain weave with 15 % finished concentration, and untreated cotton fabrics had static water absorption of 318 and 328 %; immersion time of 1.66 and 1.65 s; surface water absorption of 17 and 18.1 mL; and vertical wicking heights of 3.2 and 4.9 cm, respectively. Water repellency properties had slightly changed for some of the treated fabrics such as higher areal density 220 and 240 g/m2 terry weave fabrics with ratings of ISO 50 adjacent to untreated fabric sample ratings of ISO 0. Water repellency results indicated that there was no characteristic change in water response property (i.e., water absorption) of herbal extract–treated samples. Ashwagandha, combined aloe vera: tulsi and combined banana peels: casein–treated cotton fabrics of 140 and 240 g/m2 with 10 % finish concentration showed better water absorption properties in comparison with the other herbal extract–treated samples.
