A comparative analysis of pregnancy outcomes of patients with uterine fibroids after high intensity focused ultrasound ablation and laparoscopic myomectomy: a retrospective study

Abstract: Purpose: The aim of this study was to retrospectively compare and analyze pregnancy outcomes of patients with uterine fibroids after high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) ablation and laparoscopic myomectomy (LM). Materials and methods: The study group consisted of 346 patients with uterine fibroids who wished to conceive, in which 152 patients received HIFU ablation treatment (HIFU group) and 194 patients received LM treatment (LM group). The parents' baseline characters were recorded and the pregnancy out… Show more

“…As a noninvasive treatment technique, HIFU can be performed under the guidance of ultrasound (US-HIFU) or magnetic resonance imaging (MR-HIFU), so that the fibroids can be selectively ablated without damaging adjacent structures. This method requires minimal hospitalization, has no surgical wound, and has good relief and outcomes in many patients [67,68]. HIFU appears to be a safe and effective treatment in patients with uterine fibroids who wish to conceive and shows equivalent outcome in pregnancy rates compared to laparoscopic fibroid resection.…”

“…In the 42/13 crude-oil operation room, the primary instrument on site is a three-wire vortex flowmeter, and the signal type is a frequency signal. The original design was to directly connect the data acquisition module to the signal end of the secondary meter [9]. Data can be collected, but after measurement, it is found that the signal has been attenuated by about half, so this wiring method is not advisable.…”

“…Park et al reported that in USgHIFU ablation of uterine fibroids, achievement of an immediate NPVR of at least 80% is safe, with greater tumor volume shrinkage compared with cases with a lower NPVR (19). A number of studies have shown that the average or median NPVR of USgHIFU ablation of uterine fibroids has reached more than 80% (9,21,22). One of the studies was from 20 centers, including 16 inexperienced centers.…”
