A Compact Wideband Antenna Using Partial Ground Plane With Truncated Corners, L – Shaped Stubs and Inverted T – Shaped Slots

Abstract: The design of a wideband antenna using truncated corners partial ground plane loaded with L-shaped stubs and inverted T-shaped slots has been presented in this manuscript. The different concepts and structures related to antenna designing have been employed to attain the optimized model of antenna. L-shaped stubs and inverted T-shaped slots incised in the structure of antenna improve the impedance matching and bandwidth of the proposed antenna. A fed 50 Ω microstrip line has been applied to the proposed struct… Show more

“…Initially, a hexagonal ring structure is designed by subtracting the hexagon of radius 'R 2 ' from the hexagonal shaped radiating patch. The radius of hexagonal patch is calculated by using Equations ( 1)-( 2) [20] and found to be 9.0 mm at the designed frequency of 4.43 GHz. This ring structure acts as basic geometry, and further, it is copied and scaled down to 22% of its original size as shown in Fig.…”

“…Hence, various research has been conducted by scholars to develop diverse antenna miniaturization techniques to design compact antennae of distinct types such as patches, dipoles, loops, and slots that can satisfy the size constraints without degrading the performance of the antenna [3]. The many miniaturization techniques include adding slots [4], truncated and defected ground plane [5][6][7][8], meandered line [9], fractals [10] and metamaterial [11].…”

“…Omnidirectional circularly polarized antenna with single feed for 2.4 GHz WLAN applications was presented in [12]. An antenna with improved impedance matching and bandwidth using inverted T-shaped slots and Lshaped stubs in the ground plane with truncated corners was designed by Bhatia and Sharma [13]. In the proposed antenna for achieving circular polarization truncated patch was employed.…”
