A Compact Size and Low Profile Rectangular Slot Monopole Antenna for UWB Body Centric Applications

Abstract: A compact-size rectangular slot antenna required for ultra-wide band body centric applications is presented. The antenna design is based on etching a rectangular slot on a circular radiator. The antenna is optimized using a surrogate assistance differential evolution algorithm to produce the largest bandwidth in free space and close to the human body. Analysis of the proposed antenna was carried out and its performance assess in terms of bandwidth, gain, efficiency, and radiation pattern. Results investigated … Show more

“…Furthermore, the antenna offered stable radiation patterns, low ECC, gain smoothness, and compact antenna design leading this antenna to be an appropriate choice for wearable applications. Furthermore, a compact size rectangular slot antenna needed for centric applications of the ultra-wideband body was introduced by Danjuma et al [83]. The antenna is fabricated on the FR4 substrate under the specification of (εr = 4.3, δ = 0.025, and h = 0.8 mm) and overall antenna dimension (14.90 × 33.12) mm as shown in figure 43.…”

“…Numerous UWB sensors were used in the past for imaging using array measurements, such as bow tie and Vivaldi antenna [5,6]. The use of monopole antenna for the microwave-imaging array offers a very effective and performance particularly in the near field of the breast phantom [7]. Antenna fundamentals including return loss, VSWR, and radiating pattern over the UWB spectrum are well characterized.…”
