A compact low-loss one-way transmission structure based on nonreciprocal coupling

Abstract: Based on Magnetic Plasmon States and the coupling effect, a compact low-loss one-way transmission structure is proposed. The structure is composed of a two-way transmission line channel and a one-way ferrite loop channel. The length of the structure has an inverse relationship with working frequency. By applying a static bias magnetic field, One-Way Edge States of ferrite on the surface of the loop are excited, which results in the unidirectional coupling between the two channels. Excellent forward transmissio… Show more

“…[13] Most of the circulator designs achieve one-way transmission by applying an external magnetic field to the gyroelectric or gyromagnetic material to break the symmetry of the permittivity or permeability tensor. [14][15][16][17][18][19] Non-magnetic material is also used to design circulators without using a magnetic field bias to break reciprocity. [20,21] These designs open up a way to design nonreciprocal devices based on different mechanisms.…”

“…Based on one-way SMPs, many potential applications have been proposed theoretically and experimentally, such as waveguides, isolators and power splitters. [20][21][22][23][24][25] However, most theoretical research focuses on two-dimensional structures, ignoring the effects of the third dimension on electromagnetic propagation modes. This leads to a deviation between theoretical analyzes and actual results.…”
