A compact four‐element MIMO antenna for WLAN applications

Abstract: This article presents a compact four‐element multiple‐input multiple‐output (MIMO) antenna for wireless local area network applications. The overall volume of the proposed MIMO antenna is 26 mm × 26 mm × 0.8 mm and the edge‐to‐edge distance is 4 mm. The MIMO antenna operates at 5.6 to 5.8 GHz frequency band with isolation greater than 15.4 dB. The envelope correlation coefficient and the channel capacity loss for the proposed MIMO antenna are within the acceptable limits in the operating frequency band. The si… Show more

“…However, gain values of these antenna are quite low while the isolation ones are under −16 dB. In detail, the gain values in [12] and [13] are very low (under 2 dBi). In addition, the bandwidth percentage of antenna in [13] is only 2%.…”

“…In [15], MIMO antenna radiating in the Wi-Fi frequency band using a combination of 3 dipoles and 1 slot antenna is proposed. A 4-port compact MIMO antenna for WLAN application is proposed in [16] [23], and other wireless applications [22][23][24][25][26][27][28][29] are proposed. In [30], an eight-element MIMO antenna applicable for mobile terminals working in sub 6GHz 5G band working from 3.3 -3.6 GHz is proposed.…”

“…In Ref. , a compact four element MIMO antenna is proposed which covers the WLAN frequency spectra from 5.6 to 5.8 GHz. In the herein cited study, a four element fractal structured antenna is presented that uses unshared ground planes for each element and provides ultra wideband frequency with notch band rejection characteristics.…”
