A Compact CPW-Fed Monopole Antenna With Triple Bands for Wlan/Wimax Applications

Abstract: Abstract-A novel compact coplanar waveguide (CPW)-fed printed antenna with triple bands for WLAN and WiMAX applications is presented. By using a parasitic circular patch, a pair of symmetrical inverted-L strips and a 50-Ω transformer, the antenna can effectively provide a good input impedance matching. The tuning effects of the ground size, the parasitic circular patch and the symmetrical inverted-L strips to the resonance and matching condition are then examined, and the prototype of the proposed antenna is f… Show more

“…Thus, multiband omnidirectional circular polarized antennas are ideal for modern wireless communications. Several types of triband antennas have been reported, such as a CPW-fed monopole antenna with a parasitic circular patch and a pair of symmetrical invertedstrips in [1], a monopole antenna with complementary split-ring resonators in [2], a single-loop resonator in [3], and a rectangle-loaded monopole antenna with invertedslot in [4]. However, those designs can only provide triband linear-polarized omnidirectional patterns.…”

“…The study of the L-shaped shorted strip which is connected between the feeding line and the ground plane with CPW-fed has already been presented [9][10][11][12]. The antenna under study has a geometry structure with M-shaped and an L-shaped shorted strip connected between the feed line and the ground plane antenna fed by a CPW.…”

“…Fractals are capable of operating with good performance at many different frequencies simultaneously. CPW feed is more suitable for compact wireless communication [3][4]. The main advantage of CPW feeding technique is that patch and ground are placed on same plane which reduces the fabrication cost.…”
